Lara Green is a Pacific Northwest illustrator, working amidst flowers, meadows, forests and seas on beautiful Whidbey Island.
She is passionate about gardens, wandering in the woods, cooking and eating, and bringing stories to life. She works primarily in digital media, incorporating analog processes such as pen and ink, pastel, pencils, and watercolor. She loves bright color, whimsy, putting faces on things, and everything cozy.
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, her childhood was filled with music, books, ballet, and homegrown food. Her parents were avid gardeners and her grandparents were orchardists. When she wasn’t up a tree or in the garden, she spent her summers training as a pre-professional ballet dancer and sailing around the magnificent waters of the San Juan Islands and British Columbia.
Her childhood has greatly influenced her work, which is full of innocence and whimsy, abundance, immersive natural environments, and adventures through fields and forests. Mother to a four year old son, Lara also finds inspiration in seeing the world through her child’s eyes — reading, adventuring, and cooking together as a family.
In addition to her illustration practice, Lara is a multi-disciplinary graphic designer and art director, specializing in brand design, visual design, and creative campaigns for a wide range of clients. Her design portfolio is available at www.laragreen.studio
